The Loveland School District is known as the Thompson Valley District.

As of March 2008, the school district encompasses 6 Early Childhood Centers, 18 Elementary schools, 1 K-8 Charter school, 5 Middle schools, 5 High schools & 1 new Elementary scheduled to open in the fall of 2008.

The school district is Loveland's largest single employer. They have more than 2,000 full and part-time employees. There are just over 15,000 students in the 2007-2008 school year.

Educational Options:
Loveland has followed Fort Collins' lead in offering several different curriculum options to their students.
The International Baccalaureate program is offered at the new Coyote Ridge Elementary School, Lucille Erwin Middle School and Loveland High School. The International Baccalaureate Program is a project based curriculum that allows students to gain a deeper understanding of their areas of study. The I.B. program believes that its students need a broad range of knowledge. Student are required to attain a high level of mastery in the areas of geography and history, science and technology, mathmatics, English and foreign language. They are also required to work with a mentor in an area they choose to specialize in and are further required to perform a minimum number of volunteer hours in service to the community.
The Core Knowldge Program is offered at Truscott Elementary and Bill Reed Middle School, together with the New Vision Charter School. Core Knowlege comes from Educator E. D. Hirsch. Its belief is that students need a base of knowledge on which to build. They may study the same subject one year and then readdress it a few years later in more depth.
Advanced Placement courses are offered at both Loveland High School and Thompson Valley High School.  Berthoud High School has a strong math and science focus. There is also the Loveland Area Integrated School of the Arts which is designed to accommodate those students who wish to emphasize the arts in their studies. It does align itself with state and district content standards, but it attempts to incorporate the arts through the entire curriculum.
